Privacy policy
Last updated: September 2026
This privacy policy describes how ApnaCourse would handle personal information in a production deployment. ApnaCourse is a demo project and does not collect real personal data at this stage. The text below is sample legal language for demonstration only.
1. Information we would collect
- Account information: name, email address and password (stored as a hash).
- Profile information: a short bio, city and profile picture you choose to add.
- Course activity: courses you enrol in, progress and exercise submissions.
- Communication: messages you send through our contact form or community features.
- Technical data: IP address, browser type and approximate location, used for security and abuse prevention.
2. How we would use it
- To provide access to courses and community features.
- To process course enrolments and tutor payouts.
- To respond to support and contact requests.
- To detect and prevent fraud, abuse and security incidents.
- To improve the product, in aggregate, without identifying individuals.
3. Legal basis (under Indian law)
Where personal data is processed, the lawful basis would be your consent, the performance of a contract (for enrolled courses) or a legitimate interest in operating and securing the platform. You may withdraw consent at any time, though withdrawal may affect access to features.
4. Sharing
We would not sell your personal information. We would share data with processors (for example, a payment provider or email service) only as needed to operate the platform, and under contracts that require them to protect the data.
We would disclose information where required by law or to protect the rights, safety or property of ApnaCourse, our users or the public.
5. Tutors and their students
Tutors can see limited information about students enrolled in their courses — typically name and progress — so they can teach effectively. They are required to use that information only for the course.
6. Data retention
Account data would be retained while your account is active and for a reasonable period after closure for legal and security purposes. You may request deletion of your account, after which we would remove personal data unless retention is required by law.
7. Your rights
- Access and receive a copy of your personal data.
- Correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Request deletion of your data, subject to legal exceptions.
- Withdraw consent for processing that relied on it.
8. Security
We would use industry-standard practices to protect data — encryption in transit, hashed passwords, least-privilege access and regular security review. No method is fully secure, and we would notify affected users of any meaningful breach.
9. Children
ApnaCourse is intended for adults. We would not knowingly collect personal data from children under 18 without verifiable parental consent.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated through the platform.
11. Contact
Privacy questions can be sent to privacy@apnacourse.example. Because this is a demo project, you may not receive a response.
